Serious about making money writing? Know you need some freelance writing training to succeed? Me, too!

After spending thousands of dollars (and hours) on freelance writing training, I’m happy to report I found a freelance writing training that will change your life if you’re serious about becoming a paid freelance writer. And I’m going to tell you all about it.

Hi there, I’m Ashley!

I always knew I wanted to write, but never had any formal writing training and was terrified to try.

After leaving a traditional sales job to have more freedom and work online, I focused on breaking into the mysterious world of freelance writing

Do you have any idea how many JOBS are out there for freelance writers and content creators (people that create article, papers, and graphics)?!?

I always assumed a writing or journalism degree and the right connections were prerequisites, but once I found the right mentors and courses, my acceptance rate soared to 97% and my writing income went from nothing to $500 in less than ONE WEEK. No joke. And it was all because of this freelance writing training I took.

If I can do this, anyone can do this.

That Time I Decided To Become A Freelance Writer

I wanted to be a writer but was scared I didn’t have the talent or training to succeed.

I didn’t have a writing degree.

Heck, I didn’t even have a college degree.

What business did I have even trying to become a writer?

What I did have going for me was a passion for writing and sharing ideas.

And the foresight to know I needed to find someone who would tell me exactly what to do to become a successful freelance writer.

My Review: Here Are My Thoughts And Opinions About “30 Days Or Less To Freelance Writing Success”

I found this course called 30 Days or Less to Freelance Writing Success as I was researching ways to launch a freelance writing business. It sounded like exactly what I needed.

If you’re like me, you want to earn an income from home, on-the-side, or while you travel, as a freelance writer. You’re passionate about a variety of subjects and ready to share your knowledge, expertise, and research.

You need to know how much to charge, what’s lucrative to write about, where to find clients and jobs, and how to get your foot in the door, right?

The Biggest Problem Beginning Freelance Writers Face

Where to start?

That’s the problem most beginner freelance writers face.

Other things to consider are:

  • What’s more important, a portfolio or a great looking website?
  • Am I good enough?
  • What should I charge?
  • Where can I find clients to hire me?
  • How do I stand out and get hired for good writing gigs?
  • Where do I go for freelance writing training?

After jumping into blogging and email list-building full-time back in 2015, it became apparent that I needed an outlet for some of my writing and interests. Having launched a parenting website, talking about social media opt-in rates wasn’t going to have parents of newborns knocking down my door…so for a long time, I just kept my words and my ideas to myself.

How I Found My Freelance Writing Training

I found Gina Horkey’s 30 Days or Less To Freelance Writing Success course a couple of summers ago, while searching for tips on how to build a freelance writing business.

What I needed was freelance writing training and 30 days or less sounded great to me!

Gina Horkey, who created the course, is a “do as I say” kind of lady. Having built a successful freelance writing business, she had just launched this cool-sounding course, 30 Days or Less to Freelance Writing Success.

[Side note: All her classes are fantastic and super-reasonably priced. If writing is not your thing, check out her virtual assistant training, which you can read about here, as well as Pinterest assistant training that's launching soon (yes, that’s a BIG thing).]

Initially, the freelance writing training course was a series of 30 emails, with successful completion of one email unlocking the next. It’s still one of my favorite course formats, as the email would sit - staring you in the face - until you finished and moved on to the next.

Today, the course is expanded and improved, with a website, while still offering the same core freelance writing training that you need to start making money in 30 days or less. The only difference is there are more tutorials and resources.

Why I Chose The 30 Days Or Less To Freelance Writing Success Course

I chose the course because if it lived up to its promise, 30 Days or Less To Freelance Writing Success would have me working as a paid freelance writer within one month or less.

Reviewing her course curriculum, I was impressed by the steps and attention to detail.

She walked me through things I hadn’t even considered:

  1. What to do when you don’t have any published writing
  2. Land your first clients ←SOLID GOLD!
  3. Customize your pitches (requests for attention) to attract attention
  4. Prove yourself to potential employers when you have few to no existing clients
  5. Build a website and portfolio
  6. So much more!

After comparing her low-cost course with high-rated courses that were thousands of dollars and up, my gut said to go with Gina’s course.

So I did.

Working quickly, 30 days turned into less than seven days. That’s right, within one week of starting the course, I had already landed two well-paying clients and had more in my sales pipeline.

This freelance writing training was the real deal and 100% worth the investment.

And I made the money I paid for the course back in less than one job!

30 Days Or Less Vs. Penn Foster Freelance Writer Online Course

freelance writing training what's included

Ummm…$649 for an online course because “it’s accredited”?

Accredited by who? Accredited why? Accredited how?

Who cares?!?

As a freelance writer and small business owner who hires writers, I can tell you one thing: people hiring writers don’t care about writer accreditations. At all. What they care about is how you, dear writer, can help them.

Showcase your services and work in the right way and they will hire you, accredited or not.

Why spend $649+ on a course that you have to work through and THEN go find paying work, when you could be working through the course and on your business at the same time?

$147 for 30 Days or Less or $649 just for some accreditation no one has ever heard of?

Work now or work later?

It’s a no-brainer.

A quick Google search returns over 4.5 million results for “freelance writing courses.” Whoa.

How would you ever decide? I’ve checked out some of the lower priced courses, on sites like Udemy and Masterclass, but they don’t seem to offer the real-world instruction like Gina’s direction does.

What makes 30 Days freelance writing training stand out is you’re working on the course while you’re working in the real world of freelance writing. The course is not just ideas and plans, but stable, concrete steps you can take now to earn income as a freelance writer in the next 30 days or less.

30 Days or Less Course Pros and Cons

Let’s talk shop. There are pros and cons to everything, and this course is no exception. Freelance writing training is more about how to find work than it is about how to write. So here are the pros and cons I could think of:

Pros

  • Self-paced
  • Start any-time (no waiting for enrollment to open)
  • Helps you decide on writing niches to pursue
  • Strong support system
  • Concrete action steps to immediately launch your freelance writing career
  • Teaches you how to pitch (get business)
  • Customizable pitch/email templates, trackers, and website help

Cons

  • Does not show you how to write (but there are tons of resources on improving your craft!)
  • Self-paced (some people need deadlines from others to finish)
  • $147 is an investment
  • A lot to do! (But I love the step-by-step plan, so you don’t face too much at once)

Check Out My Results

This freelance writing training landed me high-paying, quality freelance contracts.

I successfully published with The Washington Post and secured monthly agreements with multiple magazines and businesses.

My rate per word went from free to a minimum of $0.35/word. Can you make more than that? Heck yes. I need to ask for a raise. 🙂 If you follow Gina’s advice and use the Contently platform to find work, your rate will be at least $0.50/word. That is way more money than most freelance writers make in the blogging world.

freelance writing training my proof it works

See that byline! Woo-hoo 🙂 Especially for almost $1/word.

Publishing with a national media outlet in the weekend Travel Feature, in-print?! Yes, please.

What I love about the 30 Days freelance writing training is the course showed me how to structure my emails and pitches to land contracts and clients. And not just for freelance writing, but for everything, life throws your way. Being able to convey your strengths, desires, and abilities is a great talent to have.

The list goes on, but I really enjoyed freelancing for small monthly local publications, and earned a good fee.

But the best part is the price.

30 Days Or Less To Freelance Writing Success Price

This course is an absolute bargain.

You guys, even with everything Gina has added to the course since I took, the price is the same as it was two years ago! Take advantage of the pricing while it lasts, as rates recently went up on one of the sister courses.

I paid $147 for the course and made $500 in my first seven days of starting the course. I worked hard, and it paid off. But you don’t have to work as fast as I did. Know your results are based on the effort you put in.

Cancel anytime during the first seven days and get a full refund.

I’ve paid thousands of dollars for other courses that didn’t offer the value and knowledge this one does. Seriously, I’m a course junkie. $147 to launch your freelance writing career is a smart investment in yourself.

And the course developer, Gina Horkey (who’s a successful freelance writer herself), is so approachable, helpful, and friendly! Her down-to-earth teaching style and writings make life so much easier. She’s not there to show off; she’s there to help you succeed.

Can’t afford $147 right this minute?

There’s also an option to divide your payments into two $79 payments here.

I’m 110% Satisfied With My Freelance Writing Training

30 Days or Less to Freelance Writing Success remains one of the best investments I’ve ever made in myself. Building your business while you work through the course is so satisfying, and it’s great to see paychecks and contracts for writing work, instead of empty inboxes and bank accounts.

This freelance writing training will give you the exact steps you need to succeed, without a painful price tag.

Are there cheaper courses? Of course. But after researching them, I’ve found the 30 Days freelance writing training is the best offer out there.
