Hi! I’m Ashley, and welcome to Lies About Parenting (LAP).
Between consulting work, writing, traveling, and homeschooling, life can often feel like a juggling act. I know firsthand how overwhelming it can be to wear so many hats at once, but I’m here to share a bit of my journey and help you find balance in yours.
I started LAP in early 2015 with a clear mission: to debunk the myths about parenting and offer practical, effective solutions that promote healthier, happier families. I saw too many parents struggling to meet unrealistic expectations, and I wanted to create a space where real, honest conversations could happen.
Join me as I challenge conventional more-is-better wisdom and debunk common myths that often mislead parents. My work has been published around the world, from the CBC to The Washington Post, and I'm known for research-backed insights, practical tips, and relatable anecdotes in the parenting community. Beyond my blog, I also engage in website and business growth consulting work, in addition to being an avid gardener, camper, therapy dog mum, and homeschooling parent.
As a mother, partner, small business owner, and passionate advocate for balanced living, I’ve learned that finding joy in our own lives is key to raising happy, satisfied children. Here at LAP, I share strategies and tips that have worked for me and my family, aiming to make parenting a bit easier and a lot more joyful.
